The film Downton Abbey 2 – A New Era Streaming; As the Crawley family prepares to celebrate two weddings at Downton Abbey, including that of Tom Branson and his fiancée Lucy, the household is turned upside down when a Hollywood director arrives unannounced to transform the house into a movie set.
At the same time, they learn that Lady Violet has just inherited a villa in the south of France. The Dowager Countess then orders her family members to travel to the French Riviera in search of her mysterious past...
1928. The Crawleys and their servants all attend the wedding of Tom Branson and Lucy Smith, daughter of Lady Bagshaw. Lord Grantham explains to his relatives that the family solicitor will soon be visiting Downton, at the Dowager's request, and that he expects everyone to be there.
Indeed, Violet has inherited a villa in the south of France, which she, in turn, wishes to bequeath to Lady Sybil and Branson's daughter. But this decision makes Branson uncomfortable.
Without understanding why the late Marquis de Montmirail was so generous to his mother, Lord Grantham receives an intriguing phone call: a certain Mr. Barber, a film director, wants to shoot his new silent film, The Gambler, at Downton Abbey.
While Robert finds the idea ludicrous, Lady Mary, for her part, considers it difficult to refuse the production's offer given the renovation work awaiting the family.
